The FC33 Soccer Club is excited to announce that Matt Ellinger
has been officially named as the Director of Coaching for the club. Ellinger is the current Head Coach of the Men’s program at Davis & Elkins College.
In his role as Director of Coaching, he will oversee the curriculum and implementation of the clubs goals regarding player and team development. He will be responsible for the recruitment, placement, and oversight of coaches within the club. And will also actively coach and instruct teams within the club. FC33’s focus is creating a soccer environment where players develop technical skill, and are constantly challenged to improve.
Matt Ellinger has an illustrious background in working in some of the most competitive and successful programs. Not only has he held instructional positions in nationally recognized youth programs like Utah FC, Arkansas Rush, and Sparta United; but he also played an instrumental role in helping establish Major League Soccer’s Real Salt Lake youth development programs in Florida and Arizona. He also has achieved a U.S. Soccer “A” License coaching certificate.
Ellinger has also worked with the Olympic Development Programs (ODP) in both Utah and Nevada.
Above the youth level of coaching, Matt has also worked primarily with different college programs. Before taking the Head Men’s job at D&E, Ellinger was the Associate Head Coach at Utah Valley University. Prior to Utah Valley, he also coached the University of Utah club team, and was an assistant coach at the University of Central Arkansas.
“Davis and Elkins was extremely fortunate to bring in a coach the caliber of Matt Ellinger,” said Bob Greenough, President of FC33. “To see his willingness to work with our club as the Director of Coaching, and help lead our organization forward is very rewarding. We had a great first year as a club, and this move paves the way towards continued growth and success.”
FC33 is in only it’s second season as a competitive soccer club. The club has also entered a recent partnership with Marion FC and Mountain State Soccer Club to form The Empire FC. This three club partnership will allow each clubs members more opportunities in development and competition.
Matt and his wife Lori have two children and reside in Elkins.
